*This review is full of spoilers so beware*
I was a little wary when I found out this sequel was being made because I felt a sequel wasn't warranted. I'm happy to say I wasn't entirely disappointed. Much like the first one, you'll enjoy this more with zero expectations and your brain shut off. It's that kind of movie.

One of the first things I noticed is the fact that this one was a bit serious. I mean, when compared to the first one (which turned me off at first) where it was mostly a comedy with gore. I'm glad to say they fixed that. But in return, The Babysitter: Killer Queen doesn't feel as fun. I'm not saying calling this bad by any means, but I think I prefer the original. This one is bigger in scope as we move around from location to location unlike part one where the setting is inside a house for 85% of the time. The gore is elevated. We get more characters. And a longer running time.

I was so pumped when the opening hit and we got a recreation of the beginning from part one almost shot by shot. That was cool. I was delighted to have the whole cast back when that doesn't normally happen, especially in horror movies where the sequel usually just brings a new set of characters.

Obviously the reveal of Samara Weaving (Ready Or Not) is the highlight. She's the star of the first one and she steals the scene in the few seconds she spends on screen. Also glad to have Judah Lewis who carries the film very well. He's a likable final-guy and I think the film deals well with the way his trauma is portrayed.

Robbie Amell (Code 8), Bella Thorne (The Duff), Andrew Bachelor (When We First Met) and Hana Mae Lee (Pitch Perfect) get their roles expanded, and honestly, I'm glad because I feel they weren't taken advantage of before (specifically the latter). Emily Alyn Lind (Doctor Sleep) gets to have more fun with her character. She gets a bigger role here too. She's our new antagonist and while her reveal is super predictable, somehow works. Ken Marino (Goosebumps) & Chris Wylde (When We First Met) are hilarious as two dad stoner idiots.

Jenna Ortega (You) is our bad girl newbie opposite Emily Alyn Lind. I'm honestly looking forward to seeing her in Scream 5. She has a forced romance with Judah Lewis that's only there to further the plot which turned me off a little bit because, why do we always have to turn our leads into love-birds?

There are also two specific moments that threw me off:
An 80's dance number that felt out of place. I mean part 1 was goofy but not too this extent.
A Street Fighter-ish confrontation between Jenna Ortega & Emily Alyn Lind. Ok, I get it. You're giving tribute to videogames like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.

In some ways, I like this one more than the first one. But in many ways, I enjoyed part one way more than this. They're still both very entertaining gory comedies. Probably gorier than the first one. If there's something both movies do right is the kills. They get creative.
