Story: "Two childhood friends, a New York hairstylist and a would-be musician, get caught up with the mob and are forced to deliver $50,000 to Australia, but things go haywire when the money is lost to a wild kangaroo."
Netflix recently dropped Kangaroo Jack and I've always been quite curious to see it but never actually got around to. Turns out Kangaroo Jack is a lot of silly fun. Somewhere in the vein of Scooby Doo (live action), Cats & Dogs, & Osmosis Jones.
The movie is filled with tons of inapropriate & silly jokes but there's a lot of charm to be found. Jerry O'Connell (Joe's Apartment) & Anthony Anderson (Romeo Must Die) make a funny duo. Estella Warren (Driven) can't act for shit but she's lovable. Christopher Walken (Sleepy Hollow) is a delight as usual and seeing young Michael Shannon (Bug) turned me on with his menacing act (man was he sexy). As for the kangaroo, well, he has more personality than the rest of the characters involved even if the cgi is bad.
I loved that this takes place in the Australia outback. Australia is one of my favorite places and (hopefully) one day I get to visit. Though I'm sure most was recorded in a studio.
The story has been done to death but that's not why were here. You don't go into a movie like this expecting plot or characters. We're here to watch two idiots make a lot of stupid decisions and follow them as they chase a "kangaroo" who "stole" their money.
