Story: "Four young friends bound by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town."

It's the 4th of July!
Which means it's time to kick-it with "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (not the cheesy Shawn Mendes song). One of my most beloved 90's slasher flicks. Granted, far from perfect as the movie contains every cliché written in textbook but also sports a charm that only 90's slasher could achieve. All with back-then popular actors, and the rock/pop soundtrack sporting every scene.

The pros:
The cast is perfect. Ryan Phillipe, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Muse Watson, Bridgette Wilson, Anne Heche, Johnny Galecki. What more could you ask for? They also give some really good performances.
The movie takes advantage of its setting in a fishing town.
The killer's costume and his choice of weapon is wicked and freaky.
That long chase-scene with Sarah Michelle Gellar's "Helen" is one of the best (if not the best) of its kind.
The final showdown in a boat is really intense.
The locker room showing Ryan's abs.
The way this mystery unravels. Pretty engaging for a movie mostly interested in thrills.
Johnny Galecki's & Bridgette Wilson's deaths are pretty cool and bloody.

The Cons:
Jennifer Love-Hewitt's final girl is a bit dull. Not her fault really. Mostly the way she's written. She mostly just runs and screams. Sarah Michelle Gellar would've made a better final girl.
There's a lot of cheese here that could've been without. (Ex. Specially when a body is found in a trunk and certain character turns their back only to find the body disappear in broad daylight in the middle of a street.)
For such a serious film, having the killer appear and disappear like fucking "Jason Voorhees" took the seriousness away a bit.
Could've used some more blood.

Still 20 years later, this film stands as one of the best post-"Scream" slashers. I for one never get bored. This has a re-watching quality not many films have. I really can't stress out how much I love this movie.
Here's a "modern" trailer:
